Over 7,000 members strong, we are the Union for hospitality workers in the Metro Detroit area. For decades we have led the fight to win fair wages, solid benefits, and safe, dignified working conditions for Detroit’s hospitality workers. Our Union has a proud tradition of being on the front lines fighting for social change and economic justice.
Who We Are
UNITE HERE Local 24 members work in all areas of Metro Detroit’s hospitality industry. No matter where they work, our members take great pride in delivering quality and professional service.
If you’ve been to Comerica Park, Ford Field, Joe Louis Arena, Cobo Hall or one of our city’s casinos, you’ve probably met our members. Many of our members work in the Metro Area’s hotels, fine dining restaurants, and country clubs. When travelers arrive at Detroit Metro Airport, Local 24 members are there to welcome them. A large number of our members work in cafeterias in auto plants, office buildings, and at Wayne State University.
Through our affiliation with UNITE HERE, Local 24 draws on the support of more than 250,000 active members throughout the United States and Canada.
How Our Union Works
Our Union works on one basic principle–solidarity. Each one of us is a vital asset in helping to create an organization strong enough to demand and win fair treatment on the job. With our collective strength, we strive to provide the very best customer service, while fighting to secure the wages and benefits we deserve, fair treatment, safer working conditions, a real voice on the job, and a secure future for our families.
Together, we achieve things that we cannot accomplish alone.
